NFS ProStreet Screenshots

November 27th, 2007

Screenshots of NFS Pro-Street on my PC…..

And more pics…..

Need For Speed; Pro-Street takes us back to the NFS 5 Porsche Unleashed days, which also featured better simulation, gameplay and damage model compared to later titles. And NFS-PS also features all the bling bling, which allows us to customize and tune cars found on versions after NFS Underground. Except cops, coz this time we have to race on tracks not on streets, so its legal racing now.

Google Gadget Ads are awesome

September 22nd, 2007

Google advertising Introduces a new ad format, Google Gadget Ads. A widgetized version of Adsense ads, probably these ads would provide users an engaging and richer experience. These ads would be shown on Adsense publisher sites through Google Adwords. An ad on the movie "A Mighty Heart" (starring Angelina Jolie) could be seen above.

Adsense Publishers can increase the chances of Gadget ads shown on their site by opting in to image ads and using one of the image ad formats.

GoDaddy Webhosting Experience

September 19th, 2007

Well, I guess finding a quality webhost is the most difficult search on the web. My current webhost is good, so am not gonna move out, I’ll keep current sites on their plan. I have future plans for few other sites, I’ll host them in another host. So, after reading several rants about cheap GoDaddy shared hosting plans, I decided to test them by myself.

Go-Daddy is a popular domain seller, also a popular web-hoster. It is a cheaper hosting service too, perhaps too cheap, compared to other web-hosting services.

Well, I got, what I paid ;)

I bought their Linux Deluxe hosting plan, 10GB disk space and 1000GB bandwidth for $6.99 monthly. They also allow to purchase a $1.95 domain for every product we purchase from them, I bought a domain. They also offered free $25 Google Adwords credits (and $50 Microsoft Adcenter credit for US publishers) for this hosting plan.

First of all, their signup process was tiresome and long, also a bit sneaky at times, coz you have to make sure each and every item, on purchase forms are stuff you’ve asked for (lookout for defaultly ticked checkboxes). I preferred to pay thru Paypal.

Then after the long deal, I had to configure account settings. After that I had to login to the Hosting Control panel. Everyone has to login to their Godaddy account thru main website first after that you have to login to Hosting control panel again. They had a crappy Hosting control panel with not much options.

I uploaded one of my current sites to test this new account, changed domain’s DNS settings …etc. Strangely, it took several hours for the domain to propagate to this new server’s IP. After that only, I noticed GoDaddy doesn’t support Htaccess and Mod_Rewrite properly, some URLs were rewritten properly, but some were not.

Eg:
Working:
Rewriterule ^tag tag.php [nc]

Not working:
Rewriterule ^tag-(.+) tag.php?p=$1 [nc]

Normally, I mod_rewrite almost all of my sites, so that’s it.

I also noticed, some other odd things. we couldn’t download raw access logs, error logs …etc. Statics were only shown for a single domain, which is your account’s root domain.

But if you are planning to host sites with some plain HTML, this is one of the best offerings, i guess. But if you’re into server-scripting and all, GoDaddy hosting is not for you.

It was a wasted experiment. But I hope the $25 Adwords credit sums it up :D

GoDaddy Sucks !

* web hosting search is on again, any suggestions welcome ;)

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana

September 10th, 2007

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana

Kurt Cobain, lead vocalist and Song writer of the Rock band Nirvana, which was one of the most popular and most recognized band of their "era". Kurt was popular for his vocals for Nirvana’s music tracks like "Smells like teen spirit", "Lithium", "Dumb" …etc. His real name was “Kurt Donald Cobain”. He struggled with drug addiction and the media pressures surrounding him and his rock-star wife, Courtney Love.

Kurt Cobain died on 5th of April 1994, Was found dead with a shotgun wound on the head beside a shotgun and a sucidal note[original note image]. So his death ruled as a sucide, although disputes about his death, still exists. in his home in Seattle. But still there are disputes about his death among fans and others. In 2005, a documentary on his life was made titled "Kurt Cobain, About a son", which was created using interviews Cobain did with Journalist Michael Azerrad in 1993 for the book, "Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana".

Nirvana and Kurt Cobain were awesome and ground-breaking, Music misses him !!
