Google Gadget Ads are awesome

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Google advertising Introduces a new ad format, Google Gadget Ads. A widgetized version of Adsense ads, probably these ads would provide users an engaging and richer experience. These ads would be shown on Adsense publisher sites through Google Adwords. An ad on the movie "A Mighty Heart" (starring Angelina Jolie) could be seen above.

Adsense Publishers can increase the chances of Gadget ads shown on their site by opting in to image ads and using one of the image ad formats.

Grab your $25

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Yeah, it is free and legal. Auction Ads, ebay affilate advertising service gives away free $25 credit from Auction ads, to every new publisher who signup with them. I got my $25 credit last week, I signed up with them few weeks back, planning try it on several sites… ;)

Auction-Ads was recently acquired by MediaWhiz, which is also the parent company of TLA.

Kontera Sucks !!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I have been using Kontera since the end of 2005 on my site Importcarspecs.com. Which gets a lot of targetted traffic from search engines and converts well with Google Adsense. I used Content link ads of Kontera on pages with a lot of text (eg: BMW X5), along with Adsense. But they were not performing at all, compared to Adsense. But they do show relevant ads. At the start, when I implemented these ads, I made some money, so I kept them. For sometime, I have been thinking to remove their service from the site, but I was concerned about the sum I have made so far. Their payment limit is $100. I though I’d make it soon. But so far, no good. I guess it’s the same experience with most people (eg: Paul, Swollen Pickles, Phone boy). Folowing is the report of the revenue I have made for the last two years through them.

Period: 08/18/2005-08/24/2007 - 737 Days
Sites Net Imp Clicks CTR Revenue ECPM
importcarspecs 30,179 474 1.57% $40.19 $1.33
Total/Avg 30,334 474 1.56% $40.19 $1.32

Kontera’s ECPM looks better, but not works out better. Last time I logged in they showed some User Agreement, we had to accept. I saw an intresting listing on it.

“1.5. ‘Revenue Share’ fifty percent (50%) of Net Revenue.”

So hereafter I have decided not to use it. And if anyone is going to join Kontera, please reconsider your decision (Coz, they owe me $40), don’t use it, coz Jhon Chow does, but try it. Rest in Peace Kontera! :D

I tried Adbrite way back, it’s worse, it’d show inappropriate ads and non-relevant ads. Tried Commision Junction, their ads are CPA ads, so didn’t convert much.

Joined TLA and Clicksor sometime back, but didn’t try them. Now I’ll try them both.Clicksor seems intresting, “Clicksor will pay webmasters up to 85% of the advertising revenue to place contextual ads on their Web sites or blogs. Payments are based on a net 15-term on a bi-weekly schedule.” They also have Contextual links, similar to Kontera Content links, should replace it for Kontera. And I’ll use TLA on this blog through their Wordpress TLA plugin, TLA has plugins for integrating ads to every blogging platform.

Adsense goes round and round

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Now Google Adsense allows us to choose between round and square ad-units. Ad units with rounded corners are looking good. And with recently added ‘Ads by Google’ image logo, they look professional and distinct with other content. Its nice to see more and more customizable options in Adsense. Hmmm…. Gotta see in which sites I should use rounds and squares.. :D

Drop in Adsense earnings

Monday, June 18th, 2007

My Adsense earnings have gone down a bit. Now only I figured out, It’s Summer Blues :D

“It kicks around June 1st every year. My AdSense earnings tumble for the 3 months of summer. This year, my last good day was May 25th. Last year, I did well till June 19th. Anybody else have a major drop in earnings during the summer?”

says Randy Charles.

I feared, it gotta do something with my sites. Anyway, am working on my sites after a long pause.

More Adsense link units

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Google Adsense allows their publishers to use two additional link ad-unit on webpages.  Earlier it was 1 link unit per page. But regular ad units are still limited at three, for good ;) . So it’s time to add another link unit or two, on my sites… :D

MSN Adcenter vs Google Adwords

Monday, September 18th, 2006

I just got into Adcenter. I’m still trying to make a ad. On the first day browser crashed on the country selection list. Next day I selected countries, But the continue button for the next step was disabled. Then today I selected countries and pressed continue and the browser went straight to login page. TIME OUT!

At last I created some ads, but the system is pretty much slow than Adwords. And there was a minimum cpc amount of $0.05 for all my keywords. But average cpc was low. All in all Adcenter is ok, but very slow and crashes often and time outs, Couldn’t stand along with Adwords. Adwords, Which is also user-freindly and professional wins the race miles ahead.

But one expects more from Microsoft….
